Why is the cabinet minority covering a government despised by Lebanese street?
The March 8 coalition thwarted the previous dialogue, though it needed it the most to cover its government and Hezbollah’s weapons. What is March 14 expecting from a dialogue it agreed to participate in provided that a government of national unity is formed and that Hezbollah is unarmed?

MP Michel Faraon said that from the incidents of May 7 to the boycott of the dialogue, to the issue of weapons, arriving to the coup dealt to the Doha agreement, the domestic situation has become unbearable. Faraon added that the government no longer has a political cover.

Faraon told LBCI that his team will sit at the dialogue table with the same principles and with no illusions.

For his part, the adviser to former PM Saad Hariri said that March 14 will participate in the national dialogue “because dangers are looming over Lebanon”. He told LBCI that Hezbollah must know that the Lebanese are living in one country and have one goal.

The March 14 bloc set a road map for Hezbollah’s weapons, in virtue of the constitution, the National Defense Law and the international legitimacy’s resolutions. It is hoping to translate it into action according to the President’s perception on July 24.

Both teams are sitting around one table, one eye on Syria and one on the post-Syrian crisis phase; in the meantime, they both deny their responsibility for daily sporadic security incidents that may spiral out of control.
