Mansour: Lebanon will not support any resolution condemning Syria

Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour said Saturday that Lebanon will not support any U.N. Security Council resolution condemning Syria, adding that even Russia will oppose such move.

Mansour told Sawt el Mada radio station that the security situation in Syria is better than what it was five months ago; adding Lebanon will use its presidency of the U.N. Security Council diplomatically and will not evade international resolutions.

Mansour added that government-wide appointments and diplomatic promotions will be carried out mid-October, with sectarian-based appointments in the Foreign Ministry being made outside of the ministry’s talent pool.
