Threats of escalation if series is not acknowledged

The Trade Union Coordinating Body is holding a general strike today manifested through sit-ins and demonstrations in front of various state institutions to protest the government's failure to approve the series of ranks and salaries.             

In this context, member of the Trade Union Coordinating Body Muhammad Qasim requested that PM Najib Mikati approve the series of ranks and salaries with its full terms and abide by the decisions of the Ministerial Committee.            

Before the Ministry of Education, the Head of Public Secondary Education Teachers' Association, Hanna Gharib stated that the series of ranks and salaries is a matter related the prestige of the state.             

Gharib added: "we refuse the partition of the series and its reduction and he who thinks himself able of overthrowing the agreement is mistaken because the whole society will protest with us in-front the Grand Serail".             

In this framework, Gharib threatened further escalation should cabinet fail to finalize this issue in today's session.
