Wehbeh meets with EU ambassador Raph Tarraf

Caretaker Minister of Foreign Affairs Charbel Wehbeh met on Wednesday with the Ambassador of the European Union in Lebanon Ralph Tarraf.

Talks reportedly tackled the regional developments and the situation in Lebanon.

“We mainly tackled the discussions taking place in Brussels about the options available to support Lebanon in light of the crisis it suffers from," Tarraf said following the meeting.

Asked about the sanctions on the government formation obstructers, Tarraf said that they constitute a small part of the discussions taking place at the headquarters of the European Union.

“The issue guiding these discussions is how to support Lebanon in this difficult situation, and in this context the issue of sanctions is being discussed in the spirit of contributing in a constructive way to improving the situation in Lebanon," he added.

He also noted that he followed up with Wehbeh on the call that was held between the minister and EU foreign affairs chief Josep Borrell.
