Industry Minister Georges Bouchikian praised on Tuesday Iraq's decision to allow the re-importation from Lebanon of foodstuffs that had been banned.
He considered that such a decision opens the Iraqi markets again to Lebanese products which can compete with other sources, especially the food industries that had proven their marketing capabilities in global markets.
This as Bouchikian was informed by the Central Agency for Standardization and Quality Control of the Iraqi Ministry of Planning of the decision "to lift the ban on importing the foodstuffs mentioned below under Iraqi Council of Ministers Resolution No. 72 of 2022, and to reconsider the ban on materials or allow their import after examining the developments of the crisis, knowing that this decision is executed as of 15/3/2022.
The foodstuffs covered by the ban lift are: beer, soft drinks of all kinds, juices, energy drinks, mineral water, pasteurized milk, chips made of corn and potatoes, ice cream, table salt, vermicelli and pasta, table eggs, and chicken (C.O.S.O.C).
