Monday set as a “day of rage” for EDL contract workers

The committee of the EDL contract workers and collectors announced that Friday will be declared as a day of mourning in honor of the EDL employee [Mohamad Adib Chahine] who had died whilst attempting to fix an electricity outage throughout the winter storm.

The committee also stated that Monday will be a “day of rage” at the EDL headquarters due to delay in the government meeting their demands and the unexplained deferment in the exams which were scheduled for the 15th of January 2013.

EDL contract workers have been protesting for months calling on the government to employ them as full-time staff and to pay their salaries. Their protests have included shutting the gates of EDL headquarters in Beirut and disrupting normal work at the state-run company.
