Mikati: the government has been patient with security incidents

       
Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati said on Wednesday that two years ago “Lebanon was hanging on the brink of a sectarian war upon the issuance of the indictment in the case of Former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri's assassination", noting that “the country is currently stable after implementing the international commitments and resolutions.        

In this regard, Mikati added in a meeting with journalists and employees at the Grand Serail that “the government dealt with the security incidents with patience”, stressing that it was avoiding by all means dragging the Lebanese Army into havoc.         

“After the designation of Tamam Salam as Premier and the consultations that followed, I am reassured that the cabinet ‘will be in good hands’ and Lebanon will always be a country where rotation of power takes place,” Mikati said.          

Mikati resigned as the country's Prime Minister on Friday March 22, after talks deadlocked over the extension of Internal Security Forces chief Major General Ashraf Riff's mandate and the formation of an Election Supervisory Committee.
