Israeli army says cross-border operation launched from Mount Hermon into southern Lebanon

Israeli army spokesperson Avichay Adraee said Israeli forces carried out a cross-border operation from the Syrian side of Mount Hermon into southern Lebanon, in what he described as an effort to prevent militant entrenchment along the border.

Adraee said troops from the Alpinist Unit, operating under the 810th Mountain Brigade, conducted a “targeted operation” aimed at thwarting attempts by what he called “terrorist organizations” to establish positions near the Lebanese border.

According to the statement, the forces operated in complex mountainous terrain, crossing the border by climbing through snowy conditions from the Syrian side of Mount Hermon toward an area in southern Lebanon.

The operation aimed to scan the area, gather intelligence, and uncover what the army described as hostile infrastructure, using specialized mountain commando capabilities.
