Lebanese Army condemns shooting incident involving UNIFIL in south, says investigation underway

The Lebanese Army condemned an incident involving a patrol from the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) in the area of Ghandouriyeh, in the Bint Jbeil district of South Lebanon, after an exchange of fire with armed individuals left several peacekeepers injured.

In a statement, the army said it maintains close coordination with UNIFIL during the current sensitive phase, emphasizing the importance of cooperation amid ongoing tensions in the south.

The military added that an investigation is underway to determine the circumstances of the incident and to identify and arrest those responsible.
