Israeli army says discovered underground tunnel in clothing store in Khiam used by Hezbollah

The Israeli military said its forces uncovered an underground tunnel inside a civilian clothing store in the village of Khiam, in South Lebanon, which it described as having been used as a Hezbollah command site.

According to the army, the tunnel was approximately 25 meters deep and contained weapons and rooms allegedly used for military purposes.

The military claimed the site reflects what it described as a pattern by Hezbollah of embedding military infrastructure within civilian areas, accusing the group of endangering Lebanese civilians.

“Constructing underground infrastructure inside civilian areas in Lebanon constitutes a cynical and deliberate exploitation of the population to serve Hezbollah’s objectives,” the army said in a statement.
