Beirut court acquits Fadel Chaker, Ahmed al-Assir in attempted killing case

The criminal court in Beirut has acquitted singer Fadel Chaker and cleric Ahmed al-Assir in a case related to the attempted killing of a Lebanese Resistance Brigades official in Sidon.

The ruling was issued by the Beirut Criminal Court, headed by Judge Bilal Dannawi, with advisors Sarah Breish and Nadim al-Nashef as members. The court ordered the release of Chaker and al-Assir unless they are detained in connection with other cases.

In the same case, the court convicted Fadi Beiruty, Bilal al-Halabi, and Hadi al-Qawas, sentencing them to time already served and ordering them to surrender their weapons.

The court also acquitted Abdel Nasser Haniniya.
