Palestinian President appoints economist Mohammad Mustafa as PM

On Thursday, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas appointed economic advisor Mohammed Mustafa to form the nineteenth government.

Mustafa replaced Mohammad Shtayyeh, who resigned less than 20 days ago.

Meanwhile, the Palestinian territories are witnessing tensions amidst the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip, according to the Palestinian News & Information Agency (WAFA).

Mohammad Mustafa, 69, is an independent economic figure with no political affiliation.

He previously served as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy in the National Unity Government formed with Hamas participation in 2014, holding the position for one year.

In addition, he is also a member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization.
