REPORT: Beirut River crocodile finally caught
A crocodile was captured on Thursday in the Beirut River estuary.

Sources confirmed that the crocodile was the one spotted several months ago at the same location.

Last July, then caretaker Agriculture Ministry confirmed to LBCI that a crocodile was found in the Beirut River estuary, in the region located near the Sukleen Company.

Veterinary physician Walid Darwish had identified the reptile as a Crocodilus Niloticus, one of the world’s most dangerous, and considered a cause for hundreds of human deaths every year.

According to Darwish, the Nile crocodile’s length ranges between 4 to 6 meters, weighing around 500 KG, adding that it is a very aggressive species of crocodile that is capable of taking on almost any animal within its range.
