REPORT: Bou Saab: No strikes will be staged before academic year’s end
Education Minister Elias Bou Saab said that no more strikes will be staged before the end of the academic year, noting that discussions are underway in order to extend the academic year for an extra week.

In a press conference held at the education ministry following his meeting with the a delegation from the Union Coordinating Committee, Bou Saab stressed that the schools’ exams will be held on time, pointing out that the fate of the official exams will be determined after the parliamentary session set to be held on the 27th of May.

On another note, Bou Saab voiced his support to hold a skills test for all the contract teachers at public schools.

For his part, head of the Private Schools Teachers Association Nehme Mahfoud stated that politicians are leading the country towards the abyss, stressing that “the unions’ committees are the keenest on the interests of the students.”

In turn, member of the UCC Hanna Gharib said that their cause concerns the whole nation, noting that “their efforts aim at rescuing the country from corruption.”
