REPORT: Burj Hammoud residents stage sit-in, call for protection from Kurds
Lebanese citizens staged on Sunday a sit-in outside the Burj Hammoud municipality, calling on the state to impose security in the region and to protect them from Kurdish-Syrian nationals who also reside in the area.

A dispute flared up on Saturday in Burj Hammoud and ended up with a man throwing a gas canister on a group of people, leaving citizen Elias Kalash severely injured.

Kalash, who suffered serious head injuries, was rushed to hospital for treatment.

Also on Sunday, the Internal Security Forces said the Burj Hammoud police department arrested late on Saturday five Kuridish-Syrian nationals following the dispute.

Investigations are ongoing under the supervision of the concerned judiciary, the ISF said.

The video above, which went viral on social media platforms, depicts the dispute that erupted between the residents of Burj Hammoud on Saturday.
