Mysterious hints found in Samaha – Shaaban phone conversation
In light of recent reports on the possible involvement of additional Syrian figures in the case of former Minister Michel Samaha who was accused of transporting explosives from Damascus to carry out terrorist attacks in north Lebanon, the content of two phone calls held between Samaha and an aide to President Bashar Assad, Buthaina Shaaban, showed that she had knowledge of Samaha’s plan to transfer explosives from Syria to Lebanon.

Security sources told LBCI that what was possible in the past has now become more probable since the two phone conversations contained hints at the explosives, proving Shaaban’s involvement.

The sources pointed out that having the exact records of the content of phone calls requires some time, to prevent any false interpretations.

When the State Commissioner to the Military Court Judge Saqr Saqr received the analysis report of the mobile phone conversation between Samaha and Shaaban, he decided to refer it to Military Investigative Judge Riad Abu Ghida in preparation for Samaha’s interrogation in this regard.
