REPORT: Metal fans accused of "Satanism"

A few days ago, metal music fans held a Rock concert at the abandoned barracks of Daher al-Wahesh.                  

Shortly after, Lebanese media outlets accused the young men and women who were at the concert of "blasphemy" describing them as "devil worshipers".                                  

While heavy metal may be loud and harsh, its lyrics usually tackle dark emotions and social issues. It has been described as an "acquired taste" and has also been the target of misleading campaigns.                   

However, one thing can be confirmed, and rings true to all genres of music; metal music does not equal satanism.               

Some local stations took advantage of people's ignorance leading them to believe that this kind of music is "satanic" all the while launching a campaign in hopes of steering attention from our own true demons; ignorance, corruption, chaos, sectarianism, arms and debt.
