Aoun to Pedersen: International community must bear its responsibility in facilitating return of Syrian refugees-[REPORT]
President Michel Aoun met on Monday with United Nations Special Envoy to Syria Geir O. Pedersen at the Baabda Presidential Palace.
 
During the meeting, Aoun told Pedersen that the International community must bear its responsibility in facilitating the return of the Syrian refugees in Lebanon to their country, especially that most Syrian regions are now safe.
 
Aoun discussed also with the UN envoy the hard economic and living conditions that the Lebanese people are going through, adding that the Syrian refugees influx further increased such a burden.
 
He also praised Pedersen's efforts to make headway in the process of finding a political solution to the Syrian problem.
 
Pedersen, for his part, said that the UN is working on finding the appropriate ways for the return of refugees to their country, adding that the UN puts this issue on top of its priorities during the ongoing deliberations in Geneva.
