REPORT: 5 Broken Cameras to support the Palestinian struggle

“5 Broken Cameras”, a documentary filmed in Bil’in, a West Bank village which witnesses weekly peaceful protests against the construction of the West Bank Wall, was deemed by Palestinian activists as an important tool to support their struggle.

Over the period of 7 years, Palestinian director Emad Burnat tried to document Israel’s violations and crackdown on peaceful protests against the Wall and settlements, in an attempt to show the world what is actually happening on the ground.

Burnat named this film based on the fact that he lost 5 cameras during the shooting of the film due to gunshots fired by the Israeli army and settlers.

At a time when the film was nominated for the Oscars, along with five other documentaries, Israel is trying to take the credit especially that it was co-directed by Palestinian Emad Burnat and Israeli Guy Davidi.
