Once-dominant Cable News Network (CNN) suffers

CNN chief Jim Walton sent an e-mail to the channel’s staff members informing them of his decision to leave the once-dominant cable news network at the end of this year. The reason appears to be the deteriorating ratings of the company that had topped the most-watched networks for a long time.        

Walton had been working at the company for 31 years before he became president of CNN Worldwide.       

“I think this company needs some new thinking, a new perspective, different experiences and a new plan”, Walton said.       

In a statement, the company’s administration said it will immediately start searching for a successor to Walton.       

CNN's U.S. network, considered as a “nonpartisan and credible” news source, had its worst-ever ratings in 10 years as MSNBC, preferred by liberalists, and FOX NEWS preferred by conservatives, became serious competitors.       

It seems that the blame was put on the resigned director who adopted an objective approach while the two other news channels grew by blending news with opinion and political commentary.
