China expresses 'deep condolences' over deadly Washington air crash

China on Friday expressed "deep condolences" over a midair crash in Washington in which two of its nationals died, extending "sincere sympathies" to affected families.

"China has requested the U.S. side to promptly update it on the progress of the search and rescue operations, swiftly clarify the cause of the accident, and properly handle follow-up matters," a spokesperson for Beijing's foreign ministry said.
