Introduction to the evening news 23-06-2012

The Syrian regime is trying to contain the crisis with Turkey, after the downing of a military jet, as well as the internal Syrian crisis by forming a new government with no change in key posts, except for the foundation of the ministry of national reconciliation affairs and the appointment of an opposition figure as deputy prime minister.     

In Egypt, the people are still awaiting their president amid expectations that the wait will end with a crisis between the rebel forces, including the Muslim Brotherhood, and the military council. Simultaneously, growing students' protests have swept Sudan, heralding a popular uprising in protest of the high cost of living. Thus, Sudan will probably “join the train of the Arab Spring”.     

Amid all these upheavals, Gaza, alone, is confronting the Israeli rockets. In turn, the residents along the Lebanese-Syrian border are forming civilian committees in charge of night guarding. As for the prime minister who has recently come back from Brazil, he is busy defending himself in the wake of recent accusations that targeted many issues, from the electricity and the release of Islamist detainees to the ties with the LAF and Salafist movements.     

Pending Monday’s national dialogue, the Lebanese people are facing a new daily-life issue after schools have threatened to increase tuition fees in the event that teachers secure their rights during next week's cabinet session.
