Kandil to LBCI: Issue of Hezbollah’s arms could be settled through dialogue
Former MP Nasser Kandil announced on Thursday that all previous efforts have proved that the issue of Hezbollah’s arms could be settled only through the national dialogue called for by President Michel Sleiman.

“It was normal that Sheikh Ahmad Assir’s sit-in would eventually reach a deadlock”, Kandil told Nharkom Said TV Show.

Assir has defied repeated calls to end his sit-in which has allegedly affected the merchants’ livelihoods and caused congested traffic in the town.

Accordingly, many futile counter-protests were staged to pressure Assir into suspending his sit-it.

Assir began his protest against Hezbollah’s “extra-state" arms on June 28 and has repeatedly stressed that he won’t end the sit-in until his demands are met.
