Law 174 for tobacco control to come into effect September 3

IndyACT, in collaboration with Tobacco Free Initiative and the research department in the American University of Beirut, organized a media campaign under the title “Fout Shemm al-Hawa” (come in to take a breath of fresh air) to enforce law number 174 that bans smoking in closed public spaces.

As September 3rd draws near, the highly-anticipated date on which the law will come into effect, the campaign installed an electronic countdown timer in the Martyr Square.

The timer was installed in the presence of the representative of the Governor of Beirut, Nassif Kalous, who voiced his determination to enforce the law.
