President Sleiman holds talks with foreign leaders on the sidelines of UN-General Assembly

On the sidelines of the United Nations-General Assembly, a meeting for the International Support Group for Lebanon will be held today (Wednesday) in New York to discuss the humanitarian, economic, security and political repercussions of the Syrian crisis on Lebanon.
On another note, Lebanese President Michel Sleiman held talks with the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Turkish President Abdallh Gul, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, and Russian Foreign Affairs Minister Sergei Lavrov.

In this regard, sources told LBCI that Russia’s Lavrov informed President Sleiman that his country will provide 5.6 million dollars to support Lebanon, adding that Lebanon will be asked to attend the Geneva II peace conference since it is a neighboring country to Syria.

On Tuesday, President Sleiman held talks with the World Bank Group President Jim Yong Kim, as well as his US counterpart, President Barack Obama
