Hezbollah: President Michel Sleiman does not differentiate between gold and wood

President Michel Sleiman stated on Saturday that what the Baabda Palace needs is acknowledging the unanimous consensus over the Baabda Declaration that was reached inside its premises.

This comes as Hezbollah said earlier that the Baabda Palace requires “special care,” adding that President Michel Sleiman is not able to differentiate between “gold and wood.”

"With due respect to the presidency and to what it represents, we consider that Baabda Palace needs special care during the last months of the leader's term,” a statement issued by Hezbollah said.

"Baabda's resident cannot differentiate between gold and wood,” it added.

The statement said Hezbollah’s stance comes following the president’s speech on Friday, in which he replaced the “army-people-resistance” formula with another one.

Sleiman said Friday that the land, people and common values would form the country's “permanent equation.”

The president's suggestion comes as rival parties did not reach yet an agreement over the ministerial policy statement as the March 14 camp has voiced its rejection of the “army-people-resistance formula," which their March 8 rivals insist on.
