UCC head Gharib: Any delay in approving Pay Scale will lead to escalation
Head of the Union Coordination Committee Hanna Gharib said the UCC is calling for a series of ranks and salaries that guarantees, not undermines, the teachers' rights.

"Any delay in approving the wage scale will lead to further escalation," he said after a meeting held between a delegation of the UCC and Deputy Speaker Farid Makari on Friday.

Gharib also vowed to hold an open-ended strike and to boycott the official exams.

During the UCC’s sit-in staged on Wednesday in Riad al-Solh Square, Gharib said that “the ball is now in the lawmakers' court, as the Lebanese await the results of their discourse until Friday.”

For his part, the head of the Private Schools Teachers Association Nehme Mahfoud declared that a meeting will be held the same day in order to evaluate the outcome of the meeting of the joint committees and to decide future measures.
