Geagea holds talks with Maronite Patriarch Rai in Bkerke
Lebanese Forces chief, Samir Geagea, met on Tuesday with Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros Rai at the patriarchate in Bkerke, the state-run National News Agency reported.

Following the meeting, Geagea noted that Lebanon is in war over the presidency, adding that no one has the right to paralyze the country in order "to increase his chances in the bid."

Geagea revealed that the Patriarch hasn't been able to convince Change and Reform bloc leader MP Michel Aoun to attend parliamentary sessions tasked to elect a president.

Unlike Geagea, Aoun has refused to announce his candidacy for the presidency, saying there should first be "consensus on him as a candidate."

But the March 14 camp continued to support the LF chief, and its members remained adamant on heading to parliament to elect a president despite the lack of the needed quorum.

The dispute between the March 8 and 14 camps has plunged the country into a presidential vacuum after Michel Sleiman's six-year mandate ended on May 25.
