UNIFIL: Launching rockets from south Lebanon towards Israel violates UNSC resolution 1701
The UNIFIL announced that its radars spotted the launching of 3 rockets from Ain Arab, in South Lebanon toward Israel on Friday at around 6:00 a.m.

The Israeli authorities reported to the UNIFIL that one rocket fell in North Israel, as the statement the UNIFIL said.

The UNIFIL also said in its statement that the Israeli army responded to the rocket-launching source with artillery shells.

It also said that the Head of the UNIFIL Commander General Paolo Serra called for maximum restraint to prevent any deterioration of the situation.

According to the statement, Serra said that Friday’s incident is a serious violation of the UN Security Council Resolution 1701, adding that it clearly aims at undermining stability in the region.

He also mentioned that identifying the perpetrators of the attack is necessary.

“I appreciate the quick response of the Lebanese Armed Forces to strengthen security in the region and prevent any further escalation," Serra said.

The UNIFIL reinforced its deployment on the ground, in cooperation with the Lebanese Armed Forces, and intensified its patrols across the region.
