Parliament fails for tenth time to elect a president
The House of Representatives held on Thursday the tenth presidential election session.
 
In the first round, Michel Moawad received 38 votes, while 37 MPs cast blank ballot, 8 voted for Issam Khalifeh, 6 deputies voted for “New Lebanon,” 2 voted for Ziad Baroud, 2 voted for Salah Hneen, one voted for Shafiq Merhi, one voted for Milad Abou Muhleb, 9 voted for “Pact,” 2 voted for “compatibility,” and 3 ballots canceled.
 
Only 109 deputies showed up for the presidential election session.
 
However, Speaker of the Parliament Nabih Berri left the session, as the quorum was lost for the second round, without calling for another session.
