Lebanese Red Cross leads Cholera vaccination campaign in North Lebanon

Lebanon is witnessing a recent cholera outbreak, an acute infection spreading due to inadequate access to clean drinking water and sanitation.

Since the disease spreads among marginalized communities, northern Lebanon is currently the most affected, recording an increasing number of cases.

To fight the outbreak, the Lebanese Red Cross, along with the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health and the World Health Organization Lebanon, are running a street vaccination campaign extending to people’s homes in North Lebanon, giving the vaccine on the spot.

Many necessary actions are currently taking place to curb the spreading of the disease. Last week, the US secured Lebanon with $1.3 Million to the UNICEF flash appeal to respond to the cholera outbreak.
