Hezbollah activity in southern Lebanese village raises ceasefire concerns, Israeli army claims

The Israeli army claimed Wednesday that Hezbollah is working to rebuild its capabilities in the village of Beit Lif in southern Lebanon, in what the army described as a blatant violation of understandings between Israel and Lebanon.

The army alleged that it had identified dozens of Hezbollah facilities in the village, including headquarters and weapons depots. It claimed the group is placing these sites inside civilian homes and near other civilian buildings.

“Hezbollah’s activity in Beit Lif is just one example among many of its attempts to restore facilities across Lebanon, particularly in rural areas,” the army said in a statement by spokesperson Avichay Adraee.

“The presence of these infrastructures and the group’s operations in civilian areas constitute a serious breach of understandings and put villages and residents at risk, as Hezbollah exploits the civilian environment to advance its activities.”

The army added that reports on some targets in the village had been submitted in recent months through the ceasefire monitoring committee established to implement the understandings, but they were not acted upon.
