Lebanon, US push Israel for temporary halt before talks: Axios

Beirut and Washington have requested that Israel temporarily halt its attacks on Hezbollah ahead of direct negotiations, according to two sources cited by Axios.

The sources noted that “the U.S. supports the Lebanese request and is urging Israel to accept it. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is reviewing the request and still hasn't made a decision.”

Meanwhile, Israel’s ambassador to the U.S. said in a statement that Israel agreed "to promote a peace agreement with Lebanon, but it did not agree to discuss a ceasefire with Hezbollah."
