Lebanese government declares May 25 official holiday in solidarity with war-affected families

Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam announced that Monday, May 25, 2026, will be observed as an official public holiday in solidarity with families affected by the war in Lebanon.

Salam said the decision comes in support of the families of those killed, the wounded, detainees, and displaced residents, as well as people living in southern Lebanon and frontline villages.

Under the announcement, all public administrations, state institutions, municipalities, and municipal unions, along with schools and universities, will be closed on that day.
