REPORT: The Ahrar al Sunna brigade vows to target LAF

The Ahrar al Sunna brigade said on Saturday on its twitter page that the Lebanese Armed Forces became the target of the brigade's future operations until the army "distances itself from Iran and Hezbollah."

The brigade warned caretaker Minister of Interior Marwan Charbel, noting that he is "taking orders" from Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, while "targeting Sunnites of Lebanon."

The brigade also called for the release of the arrestee Omar al-Atrash, stressing the need to stop abuses against him in the prison of "hatred."

The Ahrar al Sunna brigade concluded by urging Sunni clerics and scholars to show solidarity with the arrestee Omar al-Atrash.

The Lebanese Army Intelligence arrested Omar al-Atrash Friday January 24, on charges of being involved in recruiting suicide bombers, smuggling rigged cars and explosive belts and planning terrorist attacks that have recently rocked the southern suburb of Beirut and Hermel.

On Sunday 25 January, al-Atrash confessed to bringing car bombs, explosive belts and suicide bombers to Lebanon.

In January, three car bomb attacks, implemented by suicide bombers, have rocked areas that are considered Hezbollah strongholds in the country. Two bombings hit the Beirut southern suburb region of Haret Hreik, while another bomb attack targeted the Bekaa town of Hermel.
