A cabinet session was held on Thursday at the Grand serial under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Tammam Salam.
The cabinet approved extending the term of the Mecanique Motor Inspection Vehicle center by three months. On another note, the cabinet deferred discussions related to the Btedei crime in terms of referral to the judicial council up until its upcoming session. Prior to the session, Minister of Interior Nouhad Machnouq had said the Btedei crime will be referred to the Judicial Council today. Last week, a judge indicted eight Jaafar clan members for the murder of a couple in the eastern Baalbek district in November last year. First Examining Magistrate in the Bekaa Valley Judge Imad al-Zein issued arrest warrants in absentia against the suspects for the murder of Sobhi and Nadimeh Fakhri in the town of Btedei. Al-Zein transferred the suspects to the Bekaa Criminal Court for trial. The couple was killed by outlaws from the Jaafar clan who were fleeing army soldiers. On another note and also in the session, Minister of Justice Achraf Rifi lauded the efforts deployed by Future MP Fouad Siniora, March 14 National Council and former PM Saad Hariri for the "ongoing dialogue they are holding in order to restore the country’s stability."
