REPORT: Akkar residents protest waste dump proposal

Residents from the northern Lebanese district of Akkar held on Thursday a protest against the government’s plan to establish a waste dump in the region.

The demonstration, which was held in the main square in the town of Halba comes two days after the Cabinet declared that it will grant $100 million to the northern district as an incentive for its officials to accept hosting a temporary garbage dump.
