MP Harb to LBCI: We will see who will be imprisoned

State Prosecutor Hatem Madi visited on Monday Speaker Nabih Berri in Ain el-Tineh.

Although his visit was a normal visit, but its time was unusual; the visit was after Judge Madi asked the Justice Minister to lift the political immunity of MP Boutros Harb.

Upon his arrival, Judge Madi said that the visit was scheduled since Friday and added that it is not related to the demand of lifting MP Harb's political immunity.

In this context, Justice Minister Shakib Qortbawi told LBCI that he read the demand and he will be sending it Speaker Berri.

For his part MP Harb called on Speaker Berri to ask relevant authorities and then the General Authority to lift his immunity upon a personal request so he may address Judge Madi before the Lebanese Judicial authorities.

Harb told LBCI that he wants to lift his own political immunity and added "at that time, I will see who will be imprisoned".

It is worth noting that lifting the political immunity of a deputy needs a joint meeting for the Parliament Committee's Bureau and the Council and the Administration and Justice Committee.
