Musk unveils new voice and video calling features on the X platform

The X social networking platform, formerly known as Twitter, is gearing up to introduce voice and video call features.

Elon Musk, the platform's owner, dropped this news in a recent Wednesday post, signaling a step toward transforming the platform into a "comprehensive application" with diverse services.

The billionaire "quoted" a post from a user named "DogeDesigner," explaining how to activate this feature: "Early version of video and audio calling on X."

Last July, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX announced a name change from "Twitter" to "X," expressing his intention to bring about a new direction for the company, which he bought on October 27, 2022.

Musk has repeatedly emphasized his intention to make the platform a comprehensive, multi-purpose application similar to "WeChat" in China, allowing users to exchange text messages and make payments simultaneously.

It appears that the option to make calls is currently available exclusively to subscribers of the "Blue" service, who can benefit from the privileges granted to them during the testing phase.

Currently, the voice and video calling option appears to be exclusively accessible to "Blue" service subscribers, who enjoy the perks of early access during the testing phase.

Musk announced last August that the new functions would be available on devices running on "Android" and "iOS," as well as on "Mac" and personal computers (PCs), and they do not require a phone number.

He described the X platform as the "global phone directory."
