Self-immolation surge in Palestine warns of possible Arab Spring rebellion
The family of Ihab Abu Nada, the 20-year-old Palestinian who doused himself with gasoline and set himself on fire, lives in a refugee camp near the Gaza beach in a state of poverty and destitution, like so many other families in Gaza.     

According to the family, Ihab was frustrated at being unable to find a job, and decided to take his life, following in the footsteps of Mohammed Bouazizi who set himself on fire in December 2010, starting a revolution in Tunisia.      

Unfortunately, Gaza’s government only acted when it was too late. Following the young man’s death, Ismail Haniyeh offered his father 2,000$ and gave his brother a job.     

In this regard, local news agencies reported that two other young men in Gaza recently tried to set themselves on fire and while Facebook pages were filled with angry comments on the worsening living conditions in Palestine, Friday was set as the beginning of a popular movement.
