Two National Guard members shot in Washington: US Homeland Security Secretary

U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said in a post on X that two National Guard members were shot in Washington on Wednesday, without providing further details.

Washington police said in a separate statement that a shooting occurred near the White House on Wednesday, but also gave no additional information.

President Donald Trump was in Florida ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday.

The Secret Service has not yet responded to a request for comment.
