Germany's Merz hails EU deal on US pact

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said an agreement struck Wednesday to implement the European Union's nearly year-old trade pact with the United States showed the bloc was "delivering on its commitments".

In a post on X, the leader of Europe's biggest economy said the deal meant "more security and stability for our businesses", after U.S. President Donald Trump had threatened new tariffs over delays in implementing the trade pact.
