Sheikh Naim Hassan: Implementation of Taif should come before proportional representation

Druze Sheikh al-Aql Naim Hassan stressed on Sunday the importance of preserving the prestige of the state as well as the safety of all the citizens.

Sheikh Hassan also called for boosting the role of the cabinet that "should fulfill its duty at different levels".

Commenting on the electoral law, the sheikh called on all concerned parties to consider a just electoral law that preserves the distinctive nature of the Lebanese fabric.

“How can we speak about proportional representation before the full implementation of the Taif, elimination of the political sectarianism and the formation of a Senate?” he wondered.
