Evacuation warnings issued as Israel launches strikes across Lebanon

Israel’s army launched a wave of strikes across Lebanon, including Beirut’s southern suburbs, early Monday after Hezbollah fired rockets in what it described as retaliation for the killing of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

The Israeli military said it carried out the attacks in response to projectile fire toward northern Israel, targeting what it described as Hezbollah positions across the country.

Ahead of some of the strikes, the army issued a mass evacuation warning to residents in parts of southern Lebanon, prompting many families to flee the area.

“Hezbollah is operating on behalf of the Iranian regime, opening fire against the Israeli civilians, and bringing ruin to Lebanon,” the military claimed in a statement.
