Hezbollah's Qassem: No one outside Lebanon has any say over the country's internal affairs

Hezbollah's Secretary-General Sheikh Naim Qassem called for indirect negotiations with Israel, arguing that such a framework would preserve Lebanon's leverage and avoid what he described as unilateral gains for Israel.

Qassem said direct negotiations would amount to "pure profits for Israel and free concessions from the Lebanese authorities," urging instead a process in which "the Lebanese negotiator holds the cards of strength."

The Hezbollah leader also insisted that the issue of weapons and the resistance movement was strictly an internal Lebanese matter.

"No one outside Lebanon has any say over the weapons, the resistance, or the organization of Lebanon's internal affairs," Qassem said, adding that these matters should not be included in negotiations with Israel.

He said Lebanon should first secure what he referred to as the "five points" before addressing domestic arrangements through a national security strategy.
