Will Mikati call for a new Cabinet session?
Despite Hezbollah's efforts, neither Gebran Bassil, the leader of the Free Patriotic Movement, nor Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati could budge from their respective positions on whether or not to call for a Cabinet session.

During a phone conversation on Monday night between Hajj Hussein Khalil and Caretaker Prime Minister, Hezbollah brought up the topic of calling for a session.

Mikati gave Khalil his perspective on why the session was necessary.

Although LBCI's information indicates a tendency to call for the holding of this session with its agenda consisting only of one or two items, the most important of which is the electricity advance, Mikati has maintained his position over the session.

According to what the Free Patriotic Movement's sources confirmed to LBCI, Hezbollah's mediation efforts also included the leadership of the Free Patriotic Movement, led by Gebran Bassil, who reiterated the movement's stance against holding cabinet meetings and his ministers not attending these sessions.

Hezbollah debated whether or not to participate in the session on Tuesday in light of the fact that it is unwilling to attend any session that might lead to a dispute with the Free Patriotic Movement. It will inform Caretaker Prime Minister Mikati of its decision as soon as it makes it.

If the party decides not to participate, Mikati won't call for a session because a quorum cannot be secured, but if Hezbollah chooses to participate, its alliance with the Free Patriotic Movement will end.
