REPORT: Saudi Royal family hinders release of cleric who raped, killed his daughter

According to the rule of a Saudi court, the well known Saudi preacher Fayhan al-Ghamdi who raped, tortured and killed his 5-year-old daughter, will only have to pay "blood money" to the mother after spending a few months in prison.

The decision outraged Saudi activists who launched a campaign on social networks calling for the cleric to be put to death. Meanwhile, the mother has appealed the court's decision.This case brought the attention of International media, including CNN, The Independent and The Times.

Accordingly, the Saudi royal family has interferes to block the release of the preacher.

The Times reported that the royal family has been “stung” by the outrage over the case, with senior members intervening to ensure a stricter punishment is given.“The royal court is now looking at the case. He will stay in prison for a long time,” a source told the newspaper.

The coroner said that the victim, Lama, suffered multiple injuries including a crushed skull, broken back, broken ribs, a broken left arm and extensive bruising and burns. She had also been repeatedly raped and burnt.

Al-Ghamdi has reportedly admitted to using a cane and cables to inflict the injuries after doubting his five-year-old daughter’s virginity and taking her to a doctor.
