President Aoun highlights state’s role in safeguarding citizens and territory

President Joseph Aoun held a series of contacts to follow rapidly unfolding developments in the region and their potential repercussions on Lebanon, the presidency said.

Aoun spoke with Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, Public Works Minister Fayez Rasamny, U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon Michel Issa and Army Commander Gen. Rodolphe Haykal. He also consulted with Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri.

The president stressed the need for the highest levels of readiness and coordination among constitutional authorities and relevant security agencies to protect Lebanon.

He said the current sensitive phase requires full national responsibility and prioritizing Lebanon’s supreme interest above all other considerations.

Aoun added that shielding Lebanon from the dangers of external conflicts and preserving its sovereignty, security and stability are absolute priorities. He called for unified efforts and strengthened internal solidarity to confront challenges and prevent any repercussions affecting Lebanese territory and its people.

He emphasized that the state, through all its institutions, will remain the primary guarantor of security, stability and the protection of all citizens and the country’s entire territory.
