One suspect killed in clash with Lebanese intelligence patrol during anti-drug operation in Hermel

A patrol from the Lebanese Army Intelligence Directorate came under fire in the Qasr area of Hermel while carrying out an operation to seize a vehicle allegedly used for transporting and manufacturing drugs, the army said in a statement.

Members of the patrol returned fire, leading to an exchange of gunfire during the operation.

The statement said the Intelligence Directorate succeeded in confiscating the vehicle, while one of the wanted suspects was killed in the clash. A second suspect fled to an unknown location, with efforts ongoing to arrest him.

The seized items were handed over to the relevant authorities, and an investigation has been launched under the supervision of the competent judiciary.
