Baghdad accuses Global Coalition of becoming 'destabilizing factor for Iraq'

Baghdad accused the Global Coalition led by Washington to combat the Islamic State organization of becoming a "destabilizing factor for Iraq" on Thursday, following a US strike in Baghdad that resulted in the killing of a leader of a pro-Iranian faction.

Yahya Rasool, the military spokesman for Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani, said in a statement, "This trajectory pushes the Iraqi government more than ever to end the mission of this coalition, which has turned into a destabilizing factor for Iraq and threatens to drag Iraq into regional conflict."

The statement came after Washington carried out strikes on Iraqi soil against factions loyal to Iran in response to attacks on US forces.
